MIDFIELDER Lili Jones would like to help “the best club in the world” to make it through to the Welsh Cup final.
It’s been a memorable first season back in the top flight for Wrexham and they can continue their impressive development by booking a place in the final of the Welsh Cup.
Fellow Adran Premier outfit The New Saints are their semi-final opponents this Sunday at Flint’s Essity Stadium.
Jones told the club’s YouTube channel: “It’s unbelievable. I say it all the time, I’m Wrexham through-and-through and being able to represent the club on a stage like this is incredible and something I’ve always dreamed of.
“Playing in the women’s cup as well for the best club in the world is something I’ve always wanted to do and I do it with pride.”
Reflecting on the season so far, Jones added: “It’s very exciting, you know. I don’t think we were expected to make top-four, so we’ve exceeded expectations and hopefully we’ll go and get some silverware from the cup as well.
“Big game against TNS on a big occasion and hopefully we’ll all turn up and go and take the win, and hopefully see us in the women’s cup final.”
Team boss Steve Dale is also looking forward to the occasion this weekend.
He said: “It’s massive, you know. The further you get into the competition, the more you believe that you can actually sort of get yourself into that final and hopefully win a piece of silverware.
“I’ve said to the girls at the end there, it’s been a really good season so far, qualifying for the top-four, but if we got the opportunity to try and win a trophy, we’d be daft not to sort of aim for trying to win it and I think it would cap off a really good season that we’ve had so far to get into a final and see where that takes us.”
Cardiff City and Swansea City, the leading duo in the Adran Premier, meet in the other semi-final at Penybont.
In Adran North, third-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads are on their travels to NFA.
Other fixtures: Llanfair Utd v Llandudno; Y Felinheli v Rhyl 1879.
Flint Town United will clinch the North East Wales League title if they avoid defeat away to Bellevue.
Northop Hall visit Welshpool and Berriew play host to Denbigh Town.
