CAERNARFON Town have confirmed that Paul Evans is to stay on as the club’s chairman.
The JD Cymru Premier side appointed Evans to the role in an interim basis last year and following a successful transition into the post he has now decided to make the appointment more permanent.
Evans has played a huge part in the Canaries’ rise to prominence in recent years. He has been on the club’s board for a decade and has also been responsible for their media exposure.
He said: “It’s been an honour to carry out the duties of the chairman over the past season. I’ve supported Caernarfon since the early eighties and I’m sure that every supporter will understand how much it means to me.
“The board has been fantastic over the past season, as has everyone else at the club, from Sean and his team to the ladies set up, Academy staff, volunteers and the Cofi Army.
“To be given this opportunity to carry on as Chairman is a special privilege and I will do my very best for the club and the greatest and most loyal supporters in Wales. I’ll try not to let anyone down.”
The club also confirmed that Darren Billingsworth will stay on in the role of vice-chair, with other board members remaining in their respective positions for the 2020/21 campaign.
Sean Eardley’s side enjoyed another fantastic season in the top-flight, securing a top-half spot at the split before eventually seeing their pursuit for Europe quashed by the Football Association of Wales’ decision to curtail the season.
They do still have a glimmer of hope regarding the JD Welsh Cup, which the FAW hope to complete if it is safe to do so before the start of next season.
