BANGOR City Men's Hockey team put in a commanding display as they cruised to a 7-2 victory over Rhyl on Saturday.
The Blues began purposefully with Ash Hardaker having a thunderous drag-flick goal disallowed after six minutes. However, it was the visitors who struck the first blow, as they netted from close range.
From then on, it was all City. Three minutes later, they drew level with a smart finish from striker Harry Street, before Gwion Jones put City in front on 20 minutes with a low drive from the edge of the 'D'. The chances kept coming for Bangor and they bagged a third soon after, with Tom Hughes smashing home a close-range volley on the rebound from Tats Greenhalgh's saved effort.
Captain Paul McCallum rounded off a dominant first half for Bangor with a smart deflected finish from a pinpoint Hardaker delivery.
The game continued in the same vein after half time, with the home side well in control of possession and creating numerous opportunites.
Ash Hardaker got a deserved goal with another unstoppable top bins drag-flick, before Tats Greenhalgh bagged Bangor's sixth with a goalmouth scramble. The final 15 minutes saw Hardaker net Bangor's seventh and his second, while Rhyl got the last word with a tidy finish in the closing stages.
Bangor City Women's team also had an afternoon to remember as they ran out 21-0 winners over a battling Bangor University third team.
Next week sees the men host Knutsford 2nds (2.15pm) while the women are up against Dysynni 2nds (10.30am).
