BANGOR Cricket Club’s teenage sensation Owen Reilly will get the chance to play at one of the most storied grounds in the country after earning a national squad selection.

The gifted all-rounder, who joined the club earlier this year, has been named in the Wales XI that will take on Marylebone Cricket Club in April next year at Lords.

The first XI captain at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay will be looking to enhance his growing reputation as one of the best young prospects anywhere in the country, and he earned his place in the select side thanks to a series of exceptional displays for Bangor during the summer on their way to clinching the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division title.

Reilly opened the batting and bowling for the title-winners and performed superbly throughout, scoring 422 runs at an average of 35.17 and scooping 19 wickets at the average expense of 22.58 and an economy rate of 3.52.

This outstanding level of consistency also earned the Sixth Former a place in the Wales U18 squad during the summer, where they tested their skills against English county sides in the T20 format.
