CAERNARFON Cricket Club’s stars were honoured for a memorable summer at their end of season awards evening.
It proved to be a campaign to remember for the Cofis, who secured the North Wales Cricket League Division Four title and promotion to the third tier after a successful fundraising initiative to replace their artificial wicket with a grass surface during the off-season.
The big winner on the night was influential squad member Ian Morgan, who was one of the standout performers during their successful championship tilt and took away with Players’ Player of the Season, the Batsman of the Season and Bowler of the Season as a result of his outstanding contribution.
Club skipper Simon Davies presented the Captain’s Player of the Year distinction to Llyr Erddyn Davies, who took 29 wickets at an average of just 6.29, which accounted for 22 per cent of the Cofis’ wickets during the season.
Rounding off the accolades was the Treasurer’s Moment of the Season, which went to Jason Parry for his unbelievable performance against Rhewl that saw him claim eight wickets for the loss of just 16 runs.
Plans are now gathering pace as the club looks to establish itself in Division Three next season as they look to build on significant momentum generated during a positive summer.
