BANGOR City men’s hockey team pulled off a brilliant 4-2 win over NWHL Division Two leaders Deeside Ramblers 4s on Saturday.
The Blues started the game well, with striker Matt Rogers drawing early saves from the visiting keeper.
The pressure eventually told as Flynn Holt swept home at the back post after good interplay between Tom Hughes and Caleb Evans.
City continued to create further opportunities, with Oli Ekberg, Robin Williams and skipper Paul McCallum all going close.
The second goal came on 25 minutes, courtesy of an Ash Hardaker drag flick which arrowed into the bottom corner.
Deeside pushed for a way back in and five minutes before the break, they pulled one back with a well-struck effort from a short corner.
The home side regained their momentum after the restart, with shots raining down on the busy Ramblers goalkeeper.
On 49 minutes, they finally restored their two-goal cushion via a Matt Rogers strike, after a crucial interception and pass from Paul McCallum.
And two minutes later, Bangor bagged a fourth when Harry Collins-Jones timed his run to perfection to sweep a shot firmly past the keeper after a superb pass from Rogers.
Deeside finished the game strongly and scored a second five minutes from time.
However, City rode out the late storm from the visitors to seal a memorable win at the Brailsford Centre 3G pitch.
Bangor are back on the road next Saturday to take on Bebington 2nds, 1.30pm pushback.
