CAERNARFON have their North Wales Cricket League Division Four title dream within reach after a convincing eight-wicket home win over Dolgellau 2nds.
The Cofis’ clinched promotion with another standout display on home soil, and they enjoy an eight-point cushion over fellow promoted side Conwy 2nds with one game of the season remaining.
Yet another exceptional bowling display saw them skittle the visitors for just 57 from 27 overs of play, with Llyr Erddyn Davies producing a five-over spell of genuine quality to claim a five-wicket haul for the loss of 15 runs.
Another positive contribution came from Ian Morgan, who helped himself to three wickets at the expense of eight runs, and the duo of Barry Roberts and Monis Altaf also got in on the act with a scalp apiece.
The home side managed to get off to a good start before opener Huw Erddyn Davies was clean bowled by Dave Jenkins for 21, with Morgan trapped lbw off a James Bradbury-Willis delivery after making 11.
An unbeaten 22 from wicketkeeper-opener Grant Peisley was enough to get the hosts over the line with ease for the loss of just two wickets after 18 overs at the crease.
The Cofis’ travel to Halkyn 2nds for their final game of the season on September 14 knowing a win would see them crowned champions.
