BETHESDA produced a fine performance to come away from their home clash against struggling Abergele with a 54-run victory.
The North Wales Cricket League Division One side managed to set a target of 135-9 from their allotted 46 overs at the crease, which featured a knock of 33 from Carwyn Williams that eventually saw him claim the top scorer accolade from the innings.
Other notable scores came from Dewi Roberts and skipper Jonathan Williams, who contributed 22 and 24, but lower or middle order batsman managed to make it into double figures thanks to an encouraging display from the Gele bowling attack.
A balanced performance saw Owen Lynam, Wasim Ali and Lewis Tolond all take a pair of wickets, and the duo of Karl Higgins and David Moulson aided their side’s attempt of victory with a scalp apiece.
All this proved to be for nothing as the Pesda bowlers ran riot on the visiting batting order, with Higgins the only player to emerge from the game with any credit after making a stubborn 29 from 53 deliveries.
Tom Sharp’s 15 late on was as good as it got thereafter for Gele, who had no answer to the bowling of Richard Williams on his way to four wickets for the loss of 21 runs.
Another to make a lasting impression was Sean Buchanan, who helped himself to three scalps at the expense of 13, and Williams matched his performance with the bat to end the day on 2-12.
Pesda now sit in eighth position ahead of their trip to basement dwellers Bersham on Saturday.
