YNYS Mon women booked their place in the Inter-Island Games tournament final with a sensational 1-0 triumph over Jersey.
Karen Williams’ side produced an exceptional display in front of another bumper crowd at the home of Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two outfit Amlwch Town, and they will now begin preparations for the final in the home of landing the coveted trophy on home soil.
A cagey first half of the contest saw both sides spurn good opportunities to gain the upper hand, leaving things scoreless at the break.
The home side wasted no time in making their presence felt after the interval, and once again it was prolific forward Lexi Musgrave on hand to convert a chance with another superb finish just seconds following the restart.
This provoked an impressive response from the visitors, who began to see more of the ball but were finding it difficult to penetrate the resolute rear-guard of Ynys Mon.
The pressure intensified in the closing stages, but Williams’ squad worked incredibly hard to counteract Jersey’s threat and book their place in the final.
They will take on the Isle of Man on Friday at Holyhead Hotspur’s New Stadium, with their opponents comfortably beating Hitra 5-1 in their semi-final encounter.
The championship favourites produced an excellent attacking display with Casey Halsall, Sarah Wignall, Jade Burden, Ellie Gawne and Becky Corkish all hitting the target after the fell behind to a Kristin Jørgenson effort early on.
