MENAI Bridge Tigers have outlined their disappointment after their promotion appeal was rejected by the Football Association of Wales.
The all-conquering Gwynedd League champions had their initial application to join Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two refused by the Football Association of Wales, and the governing body failed to grant their appeal on the basis of their “inadequate” toilet facilities.
A post on the club’s Facebook page, read: “We lost our appeal on the basis of inadequate toilet facilities and not the pitch as some have said.
“Firstly, it’s so disappointing for the players who worked there socks off to win that league to not be able to go up and secondly to the management and behind the scenes staff that give up their time for this club.
“We feel that clubs in the past with lesser facilities have been allowed to go up and have been given time to improve their facilities. Where we have just been told no.
“In our opinion the team that wins the league should win promotion end of story, no grey area.
“The club would like to thank Sean Brett, Graham Hughes and Christopher James O’Neal for leading the appeal over the last few weeks and also a huge thank you to all the support.”
A statement regarding the immediate future of the club will be released in the coming days by officials, with the newly formed management team Aaron Rowlands and Karl Roberts having their plans for progress severely hampered by the FAW’s decision.
The Tigers enjoyed a phenomenal campaign last term, producing a series of consistent displays to come away with the title in convincing fashion, eventually finishing seven points ahead of Gwalchmai.
