LLANDUDNO boss Iwan Williams has been added to the Ynys Môn Men’s Football team backroom staff.
The UEFA Pro Licence candidate is about to embark on his first season at the helm of the JD Welsh Premier League side, and has agreed to work under Campbell Harrison in an assistant manager role ahead of the 2019 Island Games.
After a meeting between the duo this week, where both discussed the philosophy for the team and the ambitions they have to create a strong lasting legacy for the island following the tournament.
Williams, said: “It is a real privilege to be involved with the Ynys Môn Men’s Football side ahead of this fantastic tournament in 2019.
“We have a real opportunity here now over the next year to plan and develop not just a team that is capable of winning the 2019 tournament, but to put in place the foundations for a legacy that can see our island’s footballing scene reach new heights and achieve big things in the years to come.
“I’m hugely excited to work with Campbell and I’m looking forward to helping him assemble his playing squad, which we’ll be looking to do in due course, and then to working with him on getting the best out of what is a very talented group of players.
“With hard work and a real team spirit, driven by the pride of representing our local area in a major tournament that we’re fortunate enough to be hosting, without a doubt I think we have what it takes to go out there and make Ynys Môn proud.”
The management team met earlier this week to discuss a multitude of different topics, including the team’s philosophy and what legacy they can leave once the games, which will be held on Anglesey, have concluded.
Williams brings with hims a fantastic knowledge of the region having managed newly promoted Caernarfon Town until his high-profile move to the Giant Hospitality Stadium in November.
Harrison, added: “We’ve discussed our ideas for the way forward and we both share a massive enthusiasm for what can be achieved and put in place for our island, not just leading into 2019, but beyond that as well, and I’m really looking forward to putting all of that in place with Iwan and getting the rest of the island’s clubs involved in our plans too.”
