WATKIN Property Ventures (WPV) has pledged an annual donation of £10k to Bangor Cricket Club until 2034 to support the recruitment of coaches and to improve the facilities at the club.

The commitment comes from a long-standing partnership with WPV and is part of the company’s mission to work with charities and groups through its community fund.

Mark Watkin Jones, chief executive of WPV, is thrilled to be working with the club again, having donated £10,000 last year.

He said: "Sport plays a vital role in our communities; it connects people, encourages inclusivity, and improves mental health.

“We hope this long-term commitment can help the club develop, plan and continue to benefit young players and the local community.

"We want to support causes that positively impact our community, and our focus is specifically on projects that can improve mental health.

“We are thrilled to support this historic club and are excited to see how the funding will help players and visitors better enjoy cricket."

The cricket club's Tŷ Newydd ground is home to various cricket teams, including the women's, men's, and junior teams.

The club also functions as a community hub, encouraging young people from our community to play cricket, learn new skills, and socialise in their free time.

Gareth Edwards, chairman of Bangor Cricket Club, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Mark and the WPV Community Fund for this significant commitment.

“It will undoubtedly help us develop and ensure we reach and benefit as many in our community as possible.

"With the funding, we can improve our visitor facilities and better support our players and coaches. We want to thank all those involved."
