A North Wales politician is urging residents to voice their opinions on the fire and rescue service's future plans.

Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is encouraging his constituents to participate in a consultation on North Wales Fire and Rescue's strategy for 2025-26.

The consultation, which runs until December 16, will help shape the service's approach to preventing and responding to fires and other emergencies.

Mr Rowlands said: "I am a great supporter of involving people, who live and work in North Wales, in decisions which affect their communities and firmly believe they should have the opportunity to have their say on what they want to see from public services like North Wales Fire and Rescue.

"It is vital that if you are interested in giving feedback that you take part in the consultation as your involvement will help shape the future of the service in North Wales.

"If you want to take part you only have a couple of weeks to respond as the consultation closes at midnight on December 16, 2024."

This is the second annual plan containing objectives that will continue to deliver against the 2024-29 Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP).

Chief Fire Officer Dawn Docx said: "One of the key objectives for fire and rescue services in Wales is to continually and sustainably reduce risk and enhance the safety of citizens and communities.

"A Community Risk Management Plan aims to identify risks facing the community and describes how the Fire and Rescue Authority will manage those risks, and continue to prevent and respond to fires and other emergencies.

"In July 2024 we published our five-year CRMP following public consultation and our 2024-25 Implementation Plan, which contained improvement and well-being objectives to enable us to deliver against our long-term objectives.

"We now want our communities to take part in a consultation on the Community Risk Management Implementation Plan for 2025-26.

"This consultation is important to everyone in North Wales and so listening to your views is important to us.

"We want to know if you think we have identified the most appropriate risks and whether our plans and objectives will meet the aims of our five principles."

To participate in the consultation, residents can visit the North Wales Fire and Rescue website to complete the questionnaire and access all necessary information.

Alternatively, they can call or text 07717 516 187, or email Ourfiveprinciples@northwalesfire.gov.wales for an 'easy-read format' or a paper copy of the questionnaire.

The final decision will be made by the Fire Authority, with details of the decision-making meeting available on the North Wales Fire and Rescue website.
