A MARKET with a difference held in Rhyl town centre has been hailed a monster success.

North Wales Macabre Market was held at the Front Room on Saturday (November 9) - it attracted hundreds of people to the town centre with several local businesses saying they saw a boost in trade on the day.

There were two floors of independent traders, crafters, authors, artists, bakers, and makers.

Items on sale included clothes, jewellery, books and comics, candles, taxidermy, upholstery, cakes and much more - all with a deliciously dark and spooky theme.

It was all the idea of friends Katie Daly and Lynne Stevens, founders of the North Wales Alternatives group, who wanted to organise an event for "alternative" people living in North Wales.

After the success of the market, the pair are already planning a second event in 2025.

Katie said: "Thank you to everyone who came yesterday and supported the traders including myself. And a huge thank you to all the traders who brought their incredible pieces and gave our market a chance!

Katie thanked Chad Jones, organiser of Rhyller Thriller, for his invaluable help during the build up and on the day of the market.

One customer said: "I travelled all the way from the other side of Caernarfon. It was so worth the journey."

Another said: "Mum and I had an absolute blast! It was incredible to meet everyone, such an ace community."

Another added: "Can't wait till you are able to host this again, great products, wonderful stall peoples and overall great atmosphere."

And another said: "My daughter and family loved the day out. We all can't wait for the next one."

Another comment read: ’Thank you for creating such a welcoming space for alternative creatives. I loved every minute of it today and picked up some beautiful pieces!"

Several local businesses, such as Flaunt It Vintage and Tim's Coffee Lounge, praised the event on social media, adding that they had reaped the benefits with increased footfall.

Now, hundreds of North Wales "alternatives" are looking ahead to 2025 to see what Katie and Lynne come up with next!
