Seckou Keita's 2024 tour is set to hit Bangor in November.
The Senegalese kora player and composer will perform at Pontio on November 9.
Tickets are on sale now.
The tour comes after the October 18 release of his new album 'Homeland' (Chapter 1).
The album features a diverse mix of "ultra-catchy pop and dance tunes" alongside "intimate and acoustic pieces."
Keita's work continues to defy categorisation, blending traditional music and rhythms with pop elements, including afro-pop, urban, hip hop, and spoken word.
The 12-track album was recorded and mixed across four countries—Senegal, UK, Belgium, and Germany—beginning in 2022.
The album features a mixture of four languages: Mandinka, Wolof, English, and French.
Keita said: "Since the events of 2020, my mind and heart have been actively seeking the answers to so many questions in relation to my UK adopted home and my Senegalese native one.
"TTwo lands, two homes, and all the places I regularly visit in between; each place embracing family, friends, music and stories.”
For this project, Keita collaborated with several artists, including his friend and sought-after Senegalese producer, Moussa Ngom, to create a unique sound blending acoustic and electronic music, traditional rhythms, and urban beats.
The album 'Homeland' is rooted in storytelling, an essential part of the griot tradition.
Keita said: "At the heart of Homeland is storytelling, an essential part of the griot tradition, which has been shaped over centuries and is an integral part of my life and my culture.
"Above all else we are the preservers of stories and history."
The album, which releases on October 18, will be accompanied by a 44-page colour booklet featuring street life photos from young Senegalese artist Taylor Kitoko.
The 'Homeland' tour will feature an all-star lineup of Senegalese musicians.
