More than 70 volunteers have collected 20 bags of litter along the Menai Strait.
The volunteers, who gathered on Monday, October 14, took part in a three-hour beach clean organised by Undeb Bangor, the students' union at Bangor University, and Campus Life.
The North Wales River Trust also lent their support to the event.
The Beach Clean Volunteering Project kicked off the event with an address outlining their plans for the year, including a commitment to collect data on the type and amount of litter collected during beach cleans.
They aim to launch a form to gather this information from volunteers, which they hope will prove beneficial for research purposes.
Despite the challenging task, the volunteers managed to amass 20 bags of litter, with even more that could have been collected.
Josie Ball, volunteering and community coordinator, said: "It’s amazing to see so many students come together to clean up our local coastline.
"Not only that, but there is a real interest in supporting and integrating with our local community through these activities."
Ms Ball also highlighted the efforts of volunteers who work throughout the year to plant trees, monitor local water vole populations, assess river quality, and develop green spaces.
She added: "They love working with partners such as the North Wales River Trust, Wildlife Trust, and Menter Môn to increase the impact of their work."
The beach clean was part of a wider programme of activities hosted by Undeb Bangor as part of Waste Awareness Week.
Other events included a clothes swap and repair café, which saved 15 items from going to landfill.
Undeb Bangor also organised visits to over 170 houses, speaking with students about waste disposal and management challenges, and ensuring tenants have the necessary information and receptacles for proper recycling.
Last year, Undeb Bangor was awarded an Excellence in Green Impact Award, and they hope to continue their sustainability efforts throughout this academic year.
