A POPULAR walking challenge that takes in stunning North Wales scenery, returns next year.
The Llangollen Round Challenge will take place over the weekend of May 31 and June 1, 2025.
This 35-mile event has taken place every three years since 2012 (with a covid break), in aid of Cancer Research UK. The 2022s walk raised more than £120,000, for which they received a national award.
Organiser Judy Smith said: "It's a bit spectacular because it goes around every summit in the Vale of Llangollen, so you get some fantastic views.
"The checkpoints in the hills will be carrying food, like cheese and biscuits and homemade cakes, and water.
"Someone once said we were fuelled by homemade cakes, as the whole town bakes for it.
"And there are certificates and medals for everyone that takes part."
There are five checkpoints along the route, which can be done in one day or two, with a bus provided from the halfway point.
The also challenge sees more than 100 helpers involved over the weekend.
Entry for the 2025 event opens from November 1, with 500 spaces available. Entry fee is £40 (£20 for 15 to 17-year-olds).
The route of the Llangollen Round has been devised by Llangollen Branch of Cancer Research UK, and with the aid of local sponsors, has been presented in detail in a colourful 24-page booklet. Along with clear route directions, the publication includes information on distance and transport connections to help you plan your walk.
