AN INDEPENDENT candidate has been elected to Isle of Anglesey County Council.
Kenneth Hughes returns to the council after winning the Talybolion ward by-election yesterday (October 24).
He lost his place on the council at the 2022 elections, and has now taken the seat vacated by Llinos Medi (Plaid Cymru) following her election as Ynys Môn MP in July.
Ms Medi was also leader of Isle of Anglesey County Council.
Plaid Cymru remains the council’s majority party, with Cllr Hughes the 11th elected independent councillor.
The full results for yesterday’s Talybolion election were as follows:
- Tomos Barlow (Green) – 46 votes, 3.5 per cent
- David Evans (Conservative) – 72 votes, 5.5 per cent
- Kenneth Hughes (Independent) - 678 votes, 51.6 per cent
- Dafydd Williams (Plaid Cymru) – 518 votes, 39.4 per cent
- Turnout 31.9 per cent (1,314 votes)
