A MAN from Caernarfon threatened another person with a golf club and a Stanley knife in the block of flats where he lived.

Christopher Jones also assaulted Kevin Bohana, which left him bleeding “profusely” and with bruises.

Jones, 58, of Pendalar, was jailed for eight months at Mold Crown Court today (October 21), having previously admitted assault, and threatening a person with a weapon and a bladed article.

Prosecutor Dafydd Roberts told the court that the “bad feeling” between Jones and Mr Bohana appears to have derived from the death of Mr Bohana’s partner in 2023.

On August 24, Mr Bohana received a call advising him to collect “sentimental items” from his partner’s home, which was in the same block of flats where Jones lived.

Mr Bohana attended the flats, rang the buzzer and “shouted up”, but an incident between him and Jones which later ensued led to Jones assaulting him and threatening him with the club and knife.

Footage from this incident was captured on closed circuit television.

Police were called to the incident, and Jones was subsequently tasered and arrested, having thrown away the weapons upon the arrival of officers.

Mr Bohana also sustained cuts to his faces as a result of the incident.

Defending Jones, who had 49 previous convictions for 129 offences, Elen Owen said none of these were for the use of violence of weapons, making this matter “completely out of character for him”.

“He was attacked in his own home by Mr Bohana, who himself is no stranger to the courts,” she said.

“He accepts what he did was way beyond anything that could be argued as self-defence."

Ms Owen added that Jones, who lives alone, is “not in the best of health”, and suffers from circulatory and mental health problems.

Sentencing, Judge Niclas Parry told Jones: “You had a knife, which was brandished.

“Sometimes, dreadful, unintended things can happen in the heat of the moment. A serious injury could have been caused.

“I fully accept there was provocation in this case.”
