AN "UNKNOWN substance" found in a forest on Anglesey last week has been removed from all of the locations where it was found.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) shared the attached photo, found at Newborough Forest, last Thursday (August 22).

Police were informed as a precautionary measure, and have since received samples of the substance.

A spokesperson for Natural Resources Wales said: “The unknown substance has been removed from all reported locations and investigations are continuing.

“Samples have been passed to North Wales Police.

“Please report any information or suspicious activity immediately to our incident hotline on 03000 65 3000 or via our online form.”

A North Wales Police spokesperson added: "The substance has been sent to the Wildlife Incident Investigation Scheme for analysis.

"They do enquiries into the death or illness of wildlife, pets and beneficial invertebrates that may have resulted from pesticide poisoning. 

"We are awaiting the results."
