The 3 North Wales coastal walks among the best in the UK

Luckily those in North Wales don't have to venture far to find some of these top coastal walks, with three being located right on the doorstep:

Cemaes (Anglesey)

Camaes, on Anglesey featured among the UK's top coastal walks, named best for "human endeavours".

inews.co.uk explained: "For an excellent Anglesey taster, try this 9.5km loop from the fishing port of Cemaes, Wales’s most northerly village.

"As well as rolling coast, there’s heaps of human interest.

"En route lie the church at Llanbadrig (said to have been founded in AD440 by St Patrick), the ruins of Porth Llanlleiana china-clay works, the ancient hill fort of Dinas Gynfor and the remains of Porth Wen’s brickworks, still complete with its old boilers and steam engine."

Aberdaron (Llŷn Peninsula)

Aberdaron, on the Llŷn Peninsula, was named among the best coastal walks in the UK, recognised as a great spot for a pilgrimage.

The news outlet said: "The fishing village of Aberdaron was the final port of call for pilgrims bound for Bardsey, the “Isle of 20,000 Saints”.

"But rather than sailing, make your own pilgrimage from Aberdaron’s beachside church.

"A 15km clockwise loop links lovely segments of the Llŷn Peninsula’s north and south coasts with the rolling countryside in between."

Highlights on the walk, according to inews, include the views to Bardsey from the top of Mynydd Anelog and Porthor Beach, which has “whistling sand” that squeaks underfoot.

While the 2km Dinas Oleu walk also featured on the inews list, named best for "celebrating beginnings".

The news outlet explained: "The 2km walk up the gorse-cloaked hill of Dinas Oleu (the Citadel of Light) is short, sweet and soaked in significance – this was the first tract of land ever donated to the National Trust, gifted by local philanthropist Fanny Talbot back in 1895.

"Starting from the train station in seaside Barmouth, the route leads uphill, passing Ty’n Ffynnon, Talbot’s former home. There are fine views over the Mawddach Estuary too."
