RESIDCENTS in Gwynedd were left staggered after beholding a cache of alarming "Zombie" knives handed over to local police.

The news comes amidst anticipation of the national knife amnesty commencing next week.

Residents expressed astonishment at the existence of such weapons within their communities.

NWP Gwynedd North officers have received several of these sinister blades for disposal ahead of the national amnesty scheme.

Police said: "The following weapons were handed to response officers in Caernarfon for today for destruction."

From August 26, locals have been encouraged to handover potentially lethal implements like machetes and 'zombie' knives to police stations.

After September 24, possessing these weapons will become unlawful following legislation sanctioned by the previous Conservative government.

The public has reacted spiritedly to the issue on social media platforms.

Ger Jones questioned the necessity of such tools, asking, "Why on earth would anyone want to carry something like that around?"

Adding, "Well done NWP."

Another resident, Fab Garden, praised the disposal service offered by the police to prevent such weapons from "getting into the wrong hands".

Eira Jane Langford compared the situation to a crime in a New York borough, incredulously stating, "Bloody ridiculous!

"It's Caernarfon not the Bronx!

"Well done NWP."

Echoing a similar sentiment, Sandra Jones berated those carrying such hazardous weapons, remarking, "There are some very sick people if they are carrying stuff like this."

Meanwhile, Martin Bennett said: "Everyone in Caernarfon wants to be Rambo, with their knives.

"Well done to HGC Gogledd Gwynedd / NWP Gwynedd North."
