A WOMAN living at a nursing home in Denbigh celebrated her 105th birthday in style last week.
Dorothy Jones, who has been a resident at Llys Meddyg Nursing Home for the last two-and-a-half years, was born on August 10, 1919.
She was raised in Holyhead, spending her early life there before moving to Denbigh at the age of 16, where she went on to become a nurse at the old North Wales Hospital.
In total, she has lived under the reigns of five monarchs, and in 1940, she married her husband, Bobby (Robert Wynne Jones), who sadly died in 1996.

Dorothy has seven children, 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
A small celebration party took place at Llys Meddyg on August 10 to mark her 105th birthday, with the five generations of her family, and the mayor of Denbigh, in attendance.
Her daughter, Bronwen, said: “She is an incredible lady, and has reached this amazing age having been brought up in hard times like most of her generation, and needed to be strong to face life’s challenges.
“She carried out her duties (as a nurse) with compassion and understanding; the essence of her personality
“Among her numerous birthday cards was one from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
“Having experienced many highs and lows in her life, Dorothy remains caring and loving, with a beautiful smile. She is adored and admired by her whole family.”
