A PERSON who sustained a head injury in Anglesey was taken to hospital after being treated by the coastguard yesterday (July 30).

Shortly after 6pm, Molfre Coastguard and Cemaes Bay Coastguard teams responded to reports of a person suffering a "bad cut" to their head in Cemaes Bay.

The teams located the casualty and provided first aid assistance before other specialist teams arrived.

A Moelfre Coastguard spokesperson said: "With additional team members from Moelfre helping with the care of the casualty, a request for a Community First Responder was passed to the operations room at Holyhead as we were advised that there was a delay in getting an ambulance allocated.

"Once the First Responder arrived with us, they were able to provide a increased level of monitoring and with their added concerns for the condition of the casualty, we were able to ensure an ambulance was allocated sooner."

An ambulance arrived at around 8pm, with the person transferred to the Emergency Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd for further checks and treatment.

The spokesperson added: "We wish the casualty a swift recovery."
