A MAN entered a stranger's home on the day of his release from prison, before eating grapes and drinking children's fruit drinks, a court heard.

Roland Doano, of Don Flats in Pentraeth on Anglesey, appeared before Mold Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday, July 25.

The 45-year-old had previously pleaded guilty at Mold Magistrates court on June 29 to a dwelling burglary charge.

Rosemary Proctor, prosecuting, told the court that the offence had taken place on the evening of June 27.

Complainant Karen Brown had returned home to Wrexham from a shopping trip to find Doano there.

She said that he was 'not aggressive' and explained that he had 'just been released from prison'.

While at her home, he 'ate a punnet of grapes' and had also drunk 'three to four fruit shoots', the court heard.

CCTV footage at Mrs Brown's home showed that he had been there for around an hour.

The incident had left her 'frightened', Ms Proctor said.

Police came to pick Doano up from the home and it became apparent that he had eaten and drank the items from Mrs Brown's home.

The prosecution explained that Doano had a long history of offending, with 63 convictions for 103 offences since 2002.

The defence made no case on his behalf.

Sentencing Doano, Judge Niclas Parry said: "It must have been very frightening for a lady, living on her own, to walk into her house and find you there."

However, the judge added that the circumstances in this case were 'sad' and that he was prepared to give Doano 'a chance'.

"Prove me wrong", he added.

Judge Parry passed a sentence of six months, which was suspended for 18 months.

Doano will be subject to an alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement for 120 days and will have to complete 30 rehabilitation requirement days.
