A COUPLE of drivers were stopped in Gwynedd overnight before returning positive roadside tests for cocaine.

In the early hours of this morning (July 19), PC Rylance stopped a vehicle in the Llanberis area, with the driver testing positive for both cocaine and cannabis.

At the Caernarfon bypass, meanwhile, PC Owen stopped a vehicle, with the driver testing positive for cocaine at the roadside.

Both drivers were arrested and now await the outcome of their blood test results.

If found to have been exceeding the legal drug-driving limit, they could face a lengthy ban from the roads.

North Wales Police said: “We wish to remind drivers who choose to drive whilst under the influence that drugs can stay in your system for days after consumption, which is different to alcohol.

“Therefore, you are putting at yourself at risk of being caught.

“Driving whilst under the influence of drugs has dangerous consequences, and drivers face a lengthy ban and a criminal record. It is not worth it.

“If you have any information about anyone who drives under the influence in your area, please contact 101 or access the NWP webchat to report it.

“Remember, you might save a life.”
