A 23-YEAR-old man from Holyhead is one of two people to have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery following an incident in Liverpool last weekend.
The man, and a 37-year-old male from Stoke-on-Trent, have been bailed since their arrests.
At about 4am on June 29, an 18-year-old man was approached by a male on Church Street, Liverpool, who grabbed him and threatened to take to his wallet.
Another man then punched his friend before officers in the area spotted the attack.
Both men ran away from the officers but were chased and stopped on Church Alley.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon, of Merseyside Police, said: “Thankfully, no one was seriously injured during this incident.
“I hope these two arrests re-assures visitors to our city centre that we will not tolerate such violent attacks in Liverpool.
“Everyone should be able go out and feel safe in their own community without the fear of being attacked.
“While we have made two arrests, enquiries into the robberies remain ongoing and the two men who were arrested are not to enter the city centre.
“If you were on Church Street at the time of the incident on Saturday morning and saw what happened, then please let us know.
“Similarly, if you were driving in the area and have any dashcam footage, please contact us. Any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”
