A PERSON died after a fall from a mountain in Eryri earlier this week.

Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation (OVMRO) were called to the Glyder Fach area on June 15 after reports of a person falling from the main face.

Assisted by maritime and coastguard teams, team members were lifted to the scene by winch, with the casualty having not survived the fall.

A spokesperson for OVMRO said: "On Saturday afternoon a member of the public called for help after their partner fell from a scramble on the main face of Glyder Fach.

"With a callout already in progress, Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue 936 was requested and the winchman was dropped at the scene, 2 further groups of team members were lifted by the helicopter to assist.

"Sadly the casualty didn't survive the fall and they were carried to a helicopter pick up point and brought to Bryn Poeth/Oggie Base.

"Thank you to our colleagues from the Coastguard for all their help, the thoughts of all involved are with the casualty's family and friends at this difficult time."
