A MAN has died after falling from a mountain in Eryri last week.

Emergency services were called to the incident, on Tryfan last Friday evening (June 7).

A walker had spotted someone falling on the mountain.

An Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation statement said: "The team were called out on Friday evening after a walker witnessed someone falling from the south ridge.

"Maritime and Coastguard Agency R936 was requested and Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Service teams from RAF Valley and RAF Lossiemouth training close by also volunteered.

"The casualty was located by the helicopter but sadly had not survived the fall.

"Teams were lifted onto the mountain to assist the winchman, and a technical rope rescue was conducted to lower the casualty down into Cwm Tryfan to a suitable position to be picked up by the Coastguard.

"The thoughts of all involved are with the casualty's family and friends."
