Multiple rescue services were called out to save a dog trapped in a Welsh gorge, in water at the bottom of a 60-foot drop.

After a dog was reported to be trapped in a ravine on the Torrent Walk in Brithdir, near Dolgellau, rescue services were deployed to help the stranded animal.

The call was made at approximately 4pm on Monday, June 10, as North Wales Fire Service deployed a fire engine from Dolgellau to attend the incident.

As the dog was reported to be in the water at the bottom of a 60-foot drop, it was thought that water-rescue and rope-rescue equipment would be needed. As a result, a small boat was also dispatched by North Wales Fire and Rescue.

Shortly after 4:30 pm, a request for assistance with accessing the dog was made to Aberfydi Mountain Search and Rescue team.

But as their volunteers were heading towards the incident, news came in that the fire service had managed to reach the animal, and the team was stood down.

As the water was shallower that first thought, the boat was not needed for the rescue.

North Wales Fire Service used a line and anchor strop to lift the dog out of the gorge and successfully rescue the animal.
