A MAN from Anglesey who twice raped a girl has been jailed.

Robert Price, 36, was sentenced to six years and eight months’ imprisonment at Caernarfon Crown Court today (June 6).

He had previously admitted two charges of rape.

Prosecuting, Elen Owen told the court that, in April of this year, the girl made disclosures that Price had twice raped her earlier in 2024.

Police were contacted, and though Price had fled his address, he was later found and arrested.

During his police interview, he sat in a “curled-up” position, crying and with his head in his hands, and answered no comment.

The girl said in her police interview that both offences involved Price pushing her on to a bed before having sex with her.

After both incidents, she added Price proceeded to act “completely normally” and as if “nothing untoward had happened”.

In a victim impact statement, she wrote that she was “happy and enjoying life” prior to these offences, but feels “sickened” by what Price did to her.

“I question myself every day on why he did it… my emotions are everywhere,” she added.

“Life shouldn’t be like this. Why did it happen to me?

“I’m glad I was strong enough to speak up when I did.”

Defending Price, who had no previous convictions, Simon Rogers said his client “can’t explain why he did it,” but is “deeply remorseful”.

Mr Rogers said Price has issues with depression and traits of autism, and was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was at school.

He endured a “difficult upbringing” with a “lack of stability”, and has suffered “significant bereavements in his life”, Mr Rogers added.

Price cared for his grandfather, who has Parkinson’s disease, prior to these offences being reported.

Sentence, Judge Nicola Saffman also imposed a sexual harm prevention order and restraining orders upon Price, which will be in effect indefinitely.

This includes preventing him from having any unsupervised contact with any female younger than 18.

To his victim, Judge Saffman said: “Do not let what that man has done to you define your life.

“You’re a strong young woman. You found the voice to turn him in - that was brave, it really was.”
