FOOTAGE has been shared showing extracts from a police interview in which a Bangor headteacher now convicted of child sexual abuse repeatedly answers “no comment”.

Neil Foden, 66, of Gwynant, Old Colwyn, was found guilty of 19 sexual offences, inflicted upon four different children, by a 12-person jury of at Mold Crown Court yesterday (May 15).

The jury found Foden not guilty of a 20th charge; sexual activity with a fifth child.

Following his conviction, North Wales Police has shared excerpts from an interview an officer conducted with Foden on October 26, 2023.

Officer: “So, what I’d have to ask is – what is your role day-to-day as a headteacher, then?”

Foden: “No comment.”

Officer: What does a headteacher do in school?”

Foden: “No comment.”

Officer: “That might sound really… I would imagine it would be budgets, and making sure that staff are performing as they should, and that they’re carrying out their roles as they should, would that be fair?”

Foden: “No comment.”

Officer: “Do you not see how much harm you’ve more than likely caused all of these children?”

Foden: “No comment.”

Foden was first arrested and charged in early September last year.

His sentencing was adjourned until Monday, July 1 at Mold Crown Court.
