A WOMAN from Anglesey has learnt that her Type 2 diabetes in remission after her impressive weight loss.
Alison Skinner, 47, decided last August that she was tired of feeling lethargic, self-conscious and out of place, so joined a Slimming World group in Menai Bridge.
After many years of health scares, including failed weight loss surgery that nearly took her life, she was anxious about what to expect, so asked her best friend, Shirley, to join her for support.
Growing up in care and as someone who suffers from anxiety and depression, walking through the doors felt overwhelming at first for Alison.
But she was welcomed warmly to the group by its consultant, Mo, and was pleasantly surprised to find that her first week of her “eating plan” would include food like pasta and rice.

Alison has lost gone on to five stone and 12.5lbs, and said that joining the group was one of the best decisions she has made.
She now enjoys regular physical activity and was told in February of her diabetes being in remission, which reduces her risk of kidney failure, heart attack and stroke.
Mo Dodd, Alison’s Slimming World consultant, said: “Ally is now a healthier, fitter version of herself compared to the person who walked through the doors in August 2023.
“She shouts it from the rooftops that it was the best decision she ever made. She feels transformed.”
