A PERSON attempting to climb one of the lesser-known scrambles in Eryri National Park became unwell and had to be rescued.
The walker, part of a group of two, was climbing Crib Lem, on the northern slopes of Carnedd Dafydd. The duo became very cold and shouted for help.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation posted on social media on March 2: "The team were called on a Monday afternoon. Two walkers had climbed the Crib Lem scramble but on topping out, one of the pair became unwell and couldn't continue walking so they called for help."
Maritime and Coastguard Agency R936 was requested but the summit area was covered in cloud and they were unable to access the casualties.
The rescue team said: "Instead, team members were dropped about 1km away and walked in with stretcher and first aid equipment.
"At the same time, an off-duty team member and her friend topped out of the same climb and were alerted by shouts from the casualties. They provided shelter and warm clothing to the now extremely cold pair, and looked after them until the hill party arrived.
"After rewarming and assistance from the team casualty carers, the pair were able to walk down off the hill to base for warm drinks and a debrief.
"The conditions on the hills can differ greatly than the valleys and lower ground." the statement added.

"Despite it looking like a sunny day, team members reported that the winds on the summit were bitterly cold and much higher than forecast.
"Consider taking additional warm (and windproof) clothing if you are out and about.
"Would the kit you carry in your rucksack keep you warm in the event of an unplanned stop?
"Consider carrying a group shelter large enough for all the group to get inside, these are great to keep the elements off, even for lunch breaks and not just emergencies."
The rescue happened last month.
