A SENIOR compliance officer at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has retired after more than 34 years in the job.
Jim Hughes joined the service as an on-call firefighter in Amlwch in 1990. He was promoted to crew manager before working as a community fire safety practitioner from 2008.
He then moved on to become workplace fire safety trainer before taking on the role of compliance officer in 2011 and being promoted to senior compliance officer in 2022.
He said: “It is a great feeling to be part of the community and help to keep people safe.
“Being an on-call firefighter is a big commitment, but it feels good to make a difference.
“I’ve been given the opportunity to progress in my career – without a doubt I’d recommend it to anyone.”
The fire service posted on social media: "Thank you for your service and commitment Jim."
