ABER Falls Whisky Distillery has unveiled a new liquor which has been released to celebrate the St David, the patron saint of Wales.
Aber Falls, in Abergwyngregyn, has produced ‘St David’s Day Limited Release’ whisky. With a limited run of 350 bottles, the distinctive drink is available to purchase from the distillery shop in Abergwyngregyn and from the Aber Falls website.
Matured in an Oloroso cask for over six years and non-chill filtered, the whisky - which is deep amber gold in colour – produces creamy marzipan, red fruit mixed spice and Christmas cake on the nose.
Oak and ginger notes, sweet treacle, and rich, ripe fruit comes through on the palate as well as hints of cereal and dried fruits.
Jill Boyd, Master Blender at Aber Falls, said: “In an expanding whisky market it’s so lovely to see people seeking out new whiskies to try and enjoy. One of the advantages we have as a young, Welsh distillery is our ability to experiment with our limited editions. With this St David’s Day release, our first aged statement whisky, we look to celebrating our Patron saint and the future releases from our distillery.”
Aber Falls Single Malt whiskies are distilled, matured, and bottled in North Wales, between the foothills of the Carneddau mountains in Eryri and the Menai straits. They are crafted using 100 per cent Welsh malted barley and rock-filtered water taken from the Aber Falls Waterfall and are crafted by a team of people from the area.
