NEW life is being breathed into a prominent Betws-y-Coed hotel, as a multi-million-pound refurbishment of the site starts today (February 19).
The Swallow Falls Inn, formerly The Swallow Falls Hotel, is anticipated to be ready to re-open its doors by the 2024.
Acquired by The Inn Collection Group in November 2021, the programme of works planned will transform the site, with a new pub and restaurant among the additions.

Its former youth hostel association building and camping provisions will be retained, with a total of 38 pitches covering both guests' own tents and a number of pod structures.
The former on-site “tavern”, meanwhile, will be converted into a facility boasting showers and drying rooms for wet gear, with the new-look pub taking on the provision of food and drink.
The Swallow Falls Inn will open all year, and is to offer special Christmas and "staycation" packages.
Its 38 rooms will include premium and 10 family rooms, meanwhile.
There will also be four charging points for electric vehicles, and three static caravans on site for staff use.
Although closed to the public since being purchased by The Inn Collection Group, works have been taking place behind the scenes, such as the strip-out of the old bar and rooms.
Work has also been carried out concerning water and electrical supplies and water treatment solutions, to ensure the installation is appropriate for the increased capacity of the site and suitable to its surroundings.
Originally built in the 19th century, the renovation of The Swallow Falls Inn will be overseen by Manchester-based Bridgewater Group, the project’s main contractor.
During The Swallow Falls Inn’s refurbishment, 150 jobs will be supported directly and in the wider supply chain, while the site is anticipated to create 38 full-time jobs.
Project manager Dan Wallace said: “It's very exciting to get this project started to bring The Swallow Falls Inn back to life.
“The site has been patiently waiting whilst we completed other refurbishments in the estate, but we are delighted to be underway and creating something that both visitors to the falls and Betws-y-Coed can enjoy along with our neighbours who live in this beautiful place.
“It is a very interesting project, which is going to look stunning once complete.
“It is a significant investment for the company with some substantial works such as the boreholes and other utility works already carried out.
“We’re now into the main programme of works which will create brand new bedroom spaces, a traditional cosy pub and a campsite with excellent amenities, and we are looking forward to re-opening in late 2024.”
The Inn Collection Group has two other sites in North Wales; and The Bull's Head Inn in Beaumaris, and The St Kilda Hotel, on Llandudno's promenade.
An initial phase of development works at The Bull's Head Inn saw a refresh of a ground floor lounge area and the creation of an additional six bedrooms.
St Kilda is currently closed, but will return after a revamp, providing 52 bedrooms as well as a fully refurbished bar and kitchen.
It is hoped that work at St Kilda will start in the second quarter of 2024.
