Menai Bridge-based restaurant Sosban & The Old Butchers has retained its Michelin star for 2024.
The Michelin Guide Ceremony Great Britain & Ireland 2024 took place at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on Monday (February 5).
The event saw a number of new Michelin star restaurants unveiled including:
- One new Three star restaurant
- Six new Two star restaurants
- 18 new One star restaurants
As well as new Michelin stars, there were also six new Green Stars awarded to restaurants across the UK, 20 new Bib Gourmands, and a host of other special awards.

Sosban & The Old Butchers retains its Michelin star
Among the UK restaurants to retain their Michelin stars was Sosban & The Old Butchers, located in Menai Bridge, Anglesey.

What the Michelin Guide said about Sosban & The Old Butchers
The Michelin Guide commended the the Menai Bridge-based restaurant for its "high quality cooking" and described it as a "discreet and "intimate" place to eat.
The Michelin Guide’s Point Of View reads: "Covered windows add a feeling of exclusivity to this discreet, intimate restaurant; once inside, you’ll discover an appealingly rustic room with Welsh slate walls, sheepskin-covered chairs and hand-painted animal tiles pointing back to its butcher’s shop days.
"Stephen Stevens’ well-balanced surprise menu offers boldly flavoured modern dishes with original, personal touches, which demonstrate an innate understanding of cooking techniques and flavour combinations.
"You’ll find a wealth of ingredients from North Wales; the portion sizes and pacing are spot on; and you’ll feel eager anticipation for each dish to arrive."
Those who have visited the restaurant also hold it in high regard with Sosban & The Old Butchers boasting a five star rating on Tripadvisor from 566 reviews.
The Anglesey restaurant has been described as a "triumph", "taste experience" and the "best restaurant in the UK" by visitors.

One guest on Tripadvisor, who travelled from Norway to North Wales just for the experience, said: "Fantastic and different restaurant that definitely deserves the Michelin star.
"To see one chef and one waiter prepare and serve four tables was a fun experience. A set menu were served and all courses tasted magnificent.
