A MAN from Bangor has been jailed and given a community behavioural order (CBO) following an attack on January 27.
Jamie Andrew Cowell, 37, of Bangor, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates' Court yesterday (January 29), charged with assault and making threats.
The court heard that shortly after 2.30am on January 27, Cowell was playing loud music outside an address in Bangor.
A resident came outside to ask the music to be turned down, which led Cowell to push him, causing the men to stumble.
Cowell followed the victim onto the driveway of his house and made threats.
He aggressively shouted at the victim, saying he knew where he lives and would burn his house down.
He received 16 weeks' imprisonment as well as a CBO lasting for three years.
As part of the CBO, Cowell must not:
- Use foul, abusive, insulting, offensive, threatening, disorderly or intimidating language or behaviour in any public place, or towards any person
- Be in possession of any open container of alcohol in any public place in Bangor unless in a licensed premises
District support sergeant Andrew Davies said: “Cowell is a persistent offender who causes fear in the community.
“No one should feel threatened whilst at home and I commend the victim for their bravery during this incident.
“Our officers will continue to protect those who are alarmed by inappropriate behaviour, and we hope that the residents of Bangor are reassured by the sentence and CBO imposed.”
CBOs are issued by a criminal court to tackle serious and persistent individuals engaged in criminal activity.
Breaching a criminal behaviour order is a criminal offence and could result in imprisonment.
