MEET the 12-year-old who has raised £20,000 for various charities.
Macy Grace Bates, who currently holds the title of UK’s National Junior Miss Anglesey Finalist, has taken part in charity work since the age of eight
She kicked off 2024 by braving the cold waters of Newry Beach; she took part in the New Year’s Day Dip in support of Christie Charity raising £120.
Christie Charity works in support of the development of cancer prevention, treatment, and research.
Lisa Marie Williams, Macy's mother, said: “Our cousin (Spike Howells) has just had all clear from bowel cancer and he was going to the Christie Charity, it just sort of all fell into place really. It's a charity very close to our hearts.”
As part of her Miss Anglesey role, Macy carries out charity and community work.
Lisa, 42, said: “When you say a pageant and people automatically think, oh god she does pageants. It's not like that, it's all about the charity work and helping in the community.”
Macy has taken part in pageants since the age of 10 where she flew out to Texas representing Europe where she won the title Young European Miss International.
She is now in competition for the UK National Junior Miss Pageant in July which is where her work for the Christie Charity will go.
Macy has raised money for many different charities such as Holyhead Gateway Club, St. David’s Hospice, and various children’s cancer charities.
Last year she handed in £1,800 to Short Lives Charity.
She has started a pageant for young girls in the area. She has also hosted charity quiz nights, raffles, and even spiritual evenings.
Macy's family are fundraisers for Holyhead Stroke Group.

Lisa said: “That's our main charity, we've worked with them for 20 years, so then when Macy was born, she obviously went into it as well, it’s a family thing. We're the main fundraisers for it.”
Macy is always looking for more ways to help her community.
“Nothing fazes her," Lisa said.
"She's done it for so long now. She'll wake up in the morning and she'll say, have you got anything planned today?
“She always wants to help other people. I'm massively proud of the young lady she's turning into."
