THE search continues for a man missing in the Eryri mountains as his family "pray for a miracle".

David Brookfield, 65, was last seen on Tuesday, January 9 in the Eryri area.

A family member posted on Facebook: "We are all praying for a miracle and we need him home."

On Friday, January 12, North Wales Police, mountain rescue teams and the RAF conducted a search for David. Due to the deteriorating weather, the search was suspended and relaunched on Saturday, January 13.

Chief Inspector Jon Aspinall said: “Our colleagues have been undertaking a systematic search of various areas around Eryri since Wednesday. Due to the deteriorating weather, our search will recommence in the morning via drones and helicopter if the conditions allow.

“I would urge any well meaning members of the walking and climbing community to refrain from trying to help, as local conditions are extremely hazardous.

“We expect the next few days to see the weather deteriorating significantly, and it is highly unlikely that any expert searches will be possible on foot.”

David's family are being kept informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

He is believed to be in a bright blue waterproof jacket, black trousers with a large backpack and walking equipment."
