TWO North Wales politicians and a Welsh language champion have been honoured by Bangor University.
Leah Owen, Lord Dafydd Wigley, and Ieuan Wyn Jones were presented with Honourary Degrees for their contribution to Welsh culture, language, music, and the arts!
Born on Anglesey, Leah Owen began her journey by participating in Eisteddfodau at a young age, achieving great success in multiple National Eisteddfodau during the 1970s.
She has also served as a guest vocal soloist and conductor for various choirs.
Between 1975-2001, she recorded several remarkable solo albums for Sain Recordiau.

Leah's impact extends beyond her personal achievements.
As a teacher at Hirael School, Bangor, Denbigh High School, Twm o’r Nant, Denbigh, and Denbighshire Language Centre, she has mentored and coached numerous talented individuals, including Steffan Rhys Hughes, Mared Williams, Jade Davies, Angharad Rowlands, and Amber Davies, who have become some of Wales' brightest stars.
Bangor University said: "Her influence continues to inspire aspiring musicians, shaping the future of music education and culture in Wales."
Honourary degrees were also presented to actress and writer Joanna Scanlan and Welsh forestry professional Trefor Owen.
Also receiving an Honorary Degree for his contribution to Welsh culture, language, music and the arts was Ieuan Wyn Jones.

A highly accomplished solicitor, ex-Member of Parliament, and Assembly Member for Ynys Môn, he served as Deputy First Minister for the Economy and Transport in the Llywodraeth Cymru /Welsh Government from 2007-11.
With a passion for his work in the Welsh Assembly, he dedicated himself as the leader of Plaid Cymru from 2000-12.
Additionally, Ieuan's expertise led him to serve as the Executive Director of Bangor University's Menai Science Park, and later as the chair of the M-SParc board for an impressive 10-year tenure.

Dafydd Wigley, born Baron Wigley of Caernarfon, is a highly esteemed Welsh politician and former leader of Plaid Cymru
He has dedicated his life to serving the people of Caernarfon, both in the UK Parliament and the Welsh Assembly.
Bangor University said: "His unwavering commitment to Wales is truly inspiring."
The honours were given during the university's winter graduation celebrations.
