A MAN from Anglesey has been jailed after he raped a woman in her sleep.
Manuel Silva, 61, of High Street, Menai Bridge, was sentenced to three years and nine months’ imprisonment at Caernarfon Crown Court yesterday (November 28).
He had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of rape of a woman aged 16 or older.

The court heard that Silva, a man of hitherto good character with no previous convictions, raped the woman, who cannot be named, in Menai Bridge on February 5, 2022.
Silva, who was said to be remorseful for his actions, will serve the first half of his sentence in prison, and the second on licence.
Judge Nicola Saffman, presiding over the hearing, also issued him with an indefinite restraining order.
This prevents him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly, or mentioning or referring to her on any internet platform (or encouraging a third party to do so).
Silva will also adhere to sex offenders register notification requirements indefinitely.
Judge Saffman refrained from ordering Silva to pay compensation to his victim, or any form of court costs.
