A COUPLE of chefs based at restaurants on Anglesey are to take each other on in a new competition next month.

“Chef Battle” will be contested between Mike Owen, of Freckled Angel in Menai Bridge, and Hefin Roberts, of Y Parlwr.

Promising a “culinary showdown between the maestros of flavour”, the first event will be hosted by Freckled Angel on December 13 at 7pm.

The evening will comprise eight courses; four made by each chef.

Carl Williams, of Y Parlwr, said: “We came up with the idea to bring a bit of fun to the food scene around here and to introduce followers and fans of one restaurant to the cuisine of another.

“It's something that hasn't been done before in the area. The first one is next month, and was almost fully booked after just 24h hours of awareness.

“The return 'battle/service' is in January, and Y Parlwr is planning to do more of these events against other restaurants in 2024.”
