Two North Wales restaurants - one in Conwy and the other in Abersoch - have been named among the UK's best in 2023 by OpenTable.

OpenTable has released its Top 100 UK restaurants for 2023 featuring venues from all over the country including in London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

The Jackdaw, Conwy and The Potted Lobster – Abersoch have been named among the best restaurants in the UK, featuring in OpenTable's top 100 list. 

OpenTable said: "Introducing the OpenTable Top 100 restaurants in the UK for 2023.

"Compiled from over 1.2 million OpenTable diner reviews and using dining metrics including diner ratings, percentage of reservations made in advance, and five-star reviews, the list highlights some of the top spots favoured by diners this year."

North Wales restaurants named among UK's best by OpenTable

The Jackdaw Conwy and The Potted Lobster – Abersoch both featured in the OpenTable Top 100 restaurants in the UK for 2023 list. 

The Jackdaw (Conwy)

The Jackdaw is based in Conwy (High Street, Conwy, LL32 8DB) and is owned and run by chef Nick Rudge, who hails from Llandudno.

Describing the restaurant, the OpenTable website reads: "Within the walls of Conwy Castle lies The Jackdaw, restaurant of Chef Nick Rudge.

"Providing a Tasting Menu on Tuesday to Saturday dinner service and a 5 course Tasting Menu on Friday and Saturday lunch."

The Jackdaw has a rating of 4.8 out of 5 on OpenTable from 595 reviews.

One visitor, leaving a review on the OpenTable website, said: "My son and I had the most amazing experience at the Jackdaw last night.

"The food was outstanding and all the better for its Welsh provenance. This was very thoughtfully balanced with the wine flight - delicious and skilfully chosen.

"Superb service - just the right level of explanation and hats off to Gareth who was simply outstanding !!

"We’re still talking about the experience and will most definitely be back!"

While another person added: "A great modern take on traditional Welsh food. Minimalist yet extravagant. Excellent tastes."

The Potted Lobster (Abersoch)

On the picturesque Llyn Peninsula, you will find the Potted Lobster located in the beautiful coastal village of Abersoch (High Street, Abersoch, Pwllheli, LL53 7DS). 

The OpenTable website describing the Potted Lobster says: "The Potted Lobster Abersoch offers a unique and relaxed dining experience with a menu packed with fresh, locally sourced seafood.

"Quality is at the heart of everything we do, serving up simple yet delicious flavours using only the freshest ingredients sourced from around the coastline."

The Abersoch restaurant has a 4.8 star rating on OpenTable from 515 reviews.

One guest, leaving a review on the OpenTable website, commented: "Fantastic meal and atmosphere. We went for a family celebration and they did not disappoint.

"Staff were really friendly and welcoming, made the occasion feel special.

"Unbelievable food and lovely selection of wines and fizz. A must for any occasion or just a lovely cosy night out!"

A second person added: "Super decor, Nice Service, Excellent food & wine choice with an imaginative menu We will certainly visit again."
