A MOTHER-OF-FIVE from Bangor has become a millionaire following a hunch she got to play the National Lottery.
Ceri Ann Roscoe-Roberts, 42, told of the moment she woke up early on Friday, 3 November with the strongest of feelings that she had to buy a National Lottery ticket.
Ceri acted on her ‘Friday feeling’ and immediately rolled over in bed, took her phone off her bedside table and purchased a EuroMillions ticket online.
24 hours later she was celebrating becoming a millionaire.
Ceri had initially forgotten all about buying a ticket for that Friday’s special EuroMillions draw (3 November), when an amazing 10 UK millionaires were created in one night, but when she woke up on the Saturday morning after the draw, she had the very same certain feeling - this time telling her she had in fact won!
“There was just something telling me when I woke on Saturday morning that I had won big on The National Lottery,” said Ceri.
“It was the strangest feeling ever! I picked up my phone and looked at my emails and there was one saying there was news about my ticket.
“I logged into my National Lottery account and there was the confirmation, I was indeed a millionaire.
“I had to pinch myself as I thought I was somehow in the middle of a dream and none of this was actually real.”
Ceri, a registered manager of a domiciliary care company, and husband Paul, 45, a golf course manager, say they have no plans to give up work.
However, they do have plans to buy a new, larger house and treat themselves to a new car each.
Ceri continued: “When I realised I wasn’t dreaming, I turned to my husband, Paul, and screamed – ‘we’re millionaires!’ He is a very laid back person and told me to calm down and to let him check.
“He then went on to the National Lottery website on his own phone and cross-checked the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker code to confirm we really were winners.
“We both love our jobs so we have no intention of stopping working.
“But a bigger house for all of the family is definitely on the shopping list – this is something we have wanted for a long time. And now we have the capability of buying our dream home.”
Ceri and Paul have always loved dogs and have two Labradors – and only last week Ceri fell in love with a Cocker Spaniel which she ended up taking home.
“Paul went crazy and said we had no room for another dog – I said we would make room! Never did I believe one week later I would be in the position to buy a new house and have an extra special room for our new addition to the family,” said Ceri.
Paul, a keen golfer, and a member of Conwy Golf Club, has already splashed out on a new set of golf clubs.

Ceri added: “There are just so many emotions right now, I still keep saying to myself – ‘OMG, have we really won? Is it really us?’. I always hear about people winning on The National Lottery and I am so happy for them. You just never think it is something which will ever happen to you, but it has.”
After discovering they had a winning ticket, Ceri and Paul had the regular Saturday morning football run with the kids to do, so were forced to just carry on with life as normal.
She said: “We actually made the call to The National Lottery from the car as one of our sons was playing football, so we all heard the news together and the voice of the lady on the end of the phone saying, ‘I can confirm you are now millionaires!’ I am surprised the car didn’t overturn, it was shaking with the jubilation of us all shouting, screaming and jumping up and down inside.
“My son who was playing football at the time, returned to the car disappointed because his team had lost, but I just simply said to him – ‘don’t worry son, losing the football game doesn’t matter – we’ve won the lottery!’”
Thanks to National Lottery players, £30million is generated every week for Good Causes.
This money helps fund projects across the nation, with more than 670,000 grants – supporting projects both big and small – having been made across the UK to date andover £47BN having been raised for National Lottery Good Causes.
