AN ALARM was raised after an 'unmanned boat' was seen drifting towards Menai Bridge.
Beaumaris Lifeboat received a page from HM Coastguard at 12.29 pm on Sunday, October 22.
The relief Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Irene Cornford, currently based at Beaumaris with her volunteer crew, launched at and proceeded to the reported position of the drifting boat.
On route they came across two boats with fishermen aboard one of which matched the description of the reported vessel. The fishermen aboard confirmed that they had been drifting with the tide from the Felinheli area

The lifeboat with her volunteer crew then proceeded further up the Menai Strait and at Moel Y Don spoke with the Penmon Mobile Coastguard team which had also been dispatched to the location.
After speaking with members of the public it was confirmed that the vessel seen fishing was also the reported drifting craft.
HM Coastguard then released the lifeboat and the mobile coastguard team to return to their respective stations.
A RNLI spokesman said: "This was a call made with good intent by the person making the call."
