A MAN has died following a serious crash.

The road was closed for about nine hours following the crash which happened on the A55 Eastbound, near to Britannia Bridge, on Tuesday, May 23.

Emergency services were called to the area shortly after 3.10am. A man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

The A55 was closed whilst numerous agencies worked to investigate the scene and arrange recovery.

The road reopened at 12pm.

Chief Inspector Jason Davies said: “We can confirm that the A55 was closed this morning due to a fatal road collision. Our deepest condolences remain with the man’s family at this difficult time.

“We are grateful for the understanding of the public who may have been delayed by the traffic this morning.

“This incident is now being investigated and I am appealing to anyone who may have been travelling along the A55 Eastbound near to Britannia Bridge prior to the collision and who may have seen or have dashcam footage of a grey BMW 3 Series, to contact us.”

A spokesperson from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a serious road traffic collision at 3.36am – two appliances attended

"Police and ambulance also attended and police are investigating."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 3.30am this morning to a road traffic accident on the A55 near Britannia Bridge. We deployed two rapid response vehicles and an emergency ambulance to the scene."
