At about 9am today, a spokesperson for North Wales Police told the Pioneer and Chronicle: "Due to a serious RTC in the early hours of this morning, the A55 remains closed in an eastbound direction in the Menai Bridge area.
"Vehicles under 7.5 tonnes attempting to leave Anglesey can use diversions at J8 (Ael Y Bowl Interchange). All vehicles over 7.5 tonnes attempting to leave the island are currently being stacked.
"The Westbound access to the island has reopened but will close later this morning to allow for recovery.
"Please avoid the area if possible and expect longer journey times, as traffic will be heavier than usual on many routes.
"Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as emergency services continue to work in the area.
"Further updates will be issued when appropriate."
