A WINNING design created by a nine-year-old from Anglesey has inspired a logo for the new Cybi Heritage College.
The soon to be launched Cybi’s Heritage College is part of the Holy Island Landscape Partnership’s ‘Learning Locally’ project. The Landscape Partnership is delivering more than 20 projects on Ynys Cybi.
The College is the first of its kind in Wales and has established a system that accredits young people for their engagement and learning about their own local communities.
Thea Scowcroft-Roberts, a Year 5 pupil at Ysgol Rhoscolyn, used the Penrhosfeilw Standing Stones on Holy Island as the inspiration.

The design she entered into the college logo competition came out on top out of entries from across all schools in the Holyhead catchment area.
Thea said: “I’m very proud to have won this competition and that my design will now be used as the College’s new logo.
“I enjoyed taking part in the competition and to be given the opportunity to use my art skills to design the logo.”
Thea’s original design concept was developed into the College’s new logo by Stephen Edwards of Cread Cyf.
Education advisor, Merfyn Jones, who has co-ordinated the project and prepared the new College modules, was also delighted with the final logo.
Holy Island Landscape Partnership Levelling Up Programme Manager, Efan Milner, added: “The original design created by Thea was fantastic.

“It has made a unique logo, which makes the College’s brand really stand out.
“The logo also reflects the College’s philosophy of providing young people with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their local area and heritage.”
“Learning opportunities will be made available through heritage modules where pupils will be able to gain credits for participating.
“The programme will provide students with a range of interesting learning modules that will develop their knowledge and understanding of the community that they live in.”
Thea was recently presented with her own bespoke copy of the new logo by Anglesey Council Leader, Councillor Llinos Medi.
She also won the £50 first prize and £200 for Ysgol Rhoscolyn.
